The Kalkalpen National Park belongs to the premier class of protected areas in the Alps – a place where nature is free to be nature again. A popular destination for day trips and outdoor recreation, the park is a treasured highlight for many of our guests and often the reason for their stay in the Pyhrn-Priel region. Visitors benefit from interactive visitor centers, themed adventure trails, and a wide range of guided ranger tours, all set in an untouched natural habitat – home to rare species of flora and fauna that are hard to find anywhere else.
The Pyhrn-Priel region is proud to be the home of this natural gem in the southeast of Upper Austria.
Since 2017, the park’s ancient beech forests and primeval woodland areas have been recognized as Austria’s first and only UNESCO Natural World Heritage Site – a true national treasure.
